    2 min readLast updated: 7/7/2026

    A/B Testing QR Codes

Test multiple variations of your content to find what works best.

    What is A/B Testing?

One QR code, multiple destinations. Traffic is automatically split between variations so you can measure which performs best.

    When to Use A/B Testing

    Test different:

    • Landing pages
    • Offers or promotions
    • Content formats (video vs text)
    • Call-to-action messages
    • Design layouts

    Industries:

    • E-commerce (product pages)
    • Marketing (campaign effectiveness)
    • Events (registration flows)
    • Content (article formats)

    Setting Up A/B Test

    1. Create a dynamic QR code
    2. Go to A/B Testing section
    3. Add variants (2-5 recommended)
    4. Set traffic distribution
    5. Launch test

    Traffic Distribution

    Even Split:

    • 50/50 for two variants
    • 33/33/33 for three variants
    • Equal chance for each

    Weighted Split:

    • 80/20 to test new idea safely
    • 70/30 for conservative testing
    • Custom percentages

    Metrics to Track

Conversion Rate: Most important metric - which variant converts better?

Engagement Time: How long users spend on each variant.

Bounce Rate: Which variant keeps users engaged?

Device Performance: Does one variant work better on mobile/desktop?

    Test Duration

    Minimum Requirements:

    • At least 100 scans per variant
    • Run for minimum 7 days
    • Account for weekly patterns

Statistical Significance: Wait until you have enough data to make confident decisions.

    Declaring a Winner

    1. Review all metrics
    2. Check statistical significance
    3. Consider business goals
    4. Make variant permanent

    Best Practices

Start Simple: Test one element at a time for clear results.

Be Patient: Don't end tests too early.

Document Results: Keep records of what worked and why.

Iterate: Use winning variant as baseline for next test.

Consider Context: Time of day, location, audience all matter.
